One of the most rewarding things I’ve gotten out of my volunteering experience are the friendships I’ve made with my fellow volunteers. They’re a great group of people and I think that says something about the type of people volunteer programs attract.

Overseas volunteers are generally intelligent, open to new experiences, care about making a difference in the world, curious about the world, well travelled and highly motivated. They’re the type of people that make really interesting friends. They’re the type of people that lived rather interesting lives. Living in a developing country has been so much more rewarding because I’ve had a large group of people to share the experience with.

It’s always interesting to hear other people’s stories and experiences on their time here. Something interesting always seems to happen between conversations.

I find it difficult to meet new people but I do really enjoy it. Volunteering is a great way to meet some cool people.
